The six problems we hear most often from English speakers in Athens, with the one thing worth trying yourself and what it usually means if that doesn't work.
Mac won't turn on
Plug it in and wait ten minutes before trying again, then hold the power button for ten seconds. If it stays dark, you hear clicking, smell something burnt, or the keyboard lights up with a black screen, stop. Every restart on a hardware fault can make it worse.

Try a different cable and a different wall socket first. Amber light means it's charging, no light means no power is getting in. If the battery says "Service Recommended" or the Mac only runs while plugged in, it's the battery or the charging circuit. We'll tell you which, and whether it's worth fixing on your model.

Open Activity Monitor and look for anything eating CPU. If it's still slow after a restart with nothing open, it's usually dust, dried thermal paste, or an SSD on its way out. A remote check shows what's going on before you carry it anywhere.

Another cable, another port, then stop. If it still won't mount and it holds files you don't have anywhere else, every further attempt on a failing drive lowers the odds. Bring it in as it is.

Three wrong attempts bring up the Apple ID reset option on recent Macs. If FileVault is on you'll need the recovery key, which is usually sitting in an old email. Don't erase anything. Tell us exactly what the screen says and we'll walk you through it.

Most of the time it's a setting, not hardware. Forget the network and join it again, delete the printer and add it back, try a different cable on the display. If it still won't cooperate, a remote session fixes most of these without a visit.
